ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED
Chrome checked with your computer, which reported no network connection at all: no Wi-Fi or Ethernet link is up.
Quick checks
- Is Wi-Fi turned on and connected? Check the menu bar.
- Is the Ethernet cable plugged in, with lights on the port?
- Do other devices have internet?
Fixes on Mac
Reconnect
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar, turn Wi-Fi off and on, and choose your network.
- System Settings › Network shows each service's status; a green dot means connected.
Forget and rejoin the network
- System Settings › Wi-Fi › click ⋯ next to the network › Forget This Network, then join again with the password.
Run Wireless Diagnostics
- Hold Option, click the Wi-Fi icon, choose Open Wireless Diagnostics and follow the steps.
Fixes on Windows
Reconnect and troubleshoot
- Check that Airplane mode is off and Wi-Fi is on.
- Settings › Network & internet › Advanced network settings › Network reset, as a last resort.
Other devices
Phones and the router
- Turn Airplane Mode off; restart the router if every device is offline.
Still not working?
If you're connected to Wi-Fi but still see this, a firewall or security app may be blocking Chrome, or the network adapter is failing. If every device on the network is offline, restart the router and modem and check your ISP's status page.
See what’s happening
Once you're back online, LightAtom's connections view shows which apps reconnect first and how much they download catching up.
Frequently asked questions
What does ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED mean?
Your computer reports no network connection, so the browser can't load anything. It's about your device's link to the network, not a specific website.
Why does Chrome say I'm disconnected when Wi-Fi is on?
The connection may have dropped briefly, a VPN or firewall may block Chrome, or Wi-Fi is connected to a network with no working link. Reconnect and check other apps.
How is this different from “No internet” Wi-Fi?
ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED means no network link at all. Connected-but-no-internet means the link is up but the router or ISP isn't passing traffic.
